Clem Walker is a star in the making. She is the lead in all of her school musicals, the captain of the cheerleading squad and is on track to achieving her dream of becoming a doctor. Her sixteenth year of life is shaping up to be the best one yet. Well, it was until she found out she has stage three Ewing’s Sarcoma. From that day forward, life as Clem knows it is turned upside down. Her drama club friends make Clem’s diagnosis about themselves so when she starts going to “sick kid group therapy” it is a relief to Clem when she becomes fast friends with two other members of the group. The last thing Clem ever wants to be is a burden and though she is afraid that this cancer diagnosis will be the thing to kill her, she only allows herself to voice her fears to her overprotective big brother, Nikolaos. In an attempt to lessen those fears for Clem, Nikolaos introduces her to the 1977 pop hit “Stayin Alive” and encourages her to listen any time fear creeps back inside her mind. In the months that follow, Nikolaos and Clem make living life a priority and granting every wish Clem has ever dreamed of.
